At last managed to get down to the shore to try some long exposure shots. Some success (and some dramatic failures - always worse when you've waited several minutes and get a black or white screen). The variable ND filter seems pretty cheap and cheerful except it doesn't seem to work when on maximum - end up getting a blue fuzzy cross on the picture. Put together with the ND4 filter it is possible to get an approximation of ND10. I suppose, you pays your money etc..
