Life through the lens...

Old England.

Our walk today took us past this wonderful old house.
Couldn't find out much about it except it is called Braithwaite Hall and dates from the 16th century.
Has been added to in the 18th and 19th century, and is Grade II listed.
Restoration began in 1979 and I think is nearly finished.

It was in some wonderful country side and overlooked a wonderful lake.
Near Kirkby Malzeard ,Nr Ripon, which is where our walk began today.

Weather felt warm, 7C ! No sun but no rain either, so was good for walking but not good for taking photos.

We walked about 8 miles through some lovely un spoilt villages, across farm land,
came across a little house in a wood called "the witches house". Not lived in but had been partly restored. No one knew much about it.
No noise except the birds, and couldn't see any cars or roads.

A lovely walk until about 1 mile from the end we had to cross 3 fields , all ploughed up including the footpath.
We have never walked through so much mud before! My boots were so heavy with all the mud it was hard to lift my feet up! Managed to wash them in a stream before we got back to the car, thank goodness!

It does annoy me when some farmers just don't care about paths.
Fortunately it doesn't happen very often.

Have a pork and bean chilli in the oven which should be ready now. Am looking forward to that!

Hope you have all had a good weekend.
