Gotcha....

....it's not very often I bemoan the technical merits of my old camera....

but yesterday, I got the closest I had ever been to a non-captive bird of prey, and it just wasn't close enough. He was sitting on a fence post up by Hardys monument and my old 6MP would just not allow the crop nessesary to nail the shot. By the time I'd cropped, used some recovery software, tried to tone down the noise....it was just a mess!

So today, Jen and I went out over the Dorset downs to rectify that. After several attempts with various beasts; I got within about fifteen feet of this one, which was close enough. I know it's not the best "Bird of Prey" photo that has ever been taken, he's not hunting, he's not on the prey, he's just looking at me thinking "any closer and I'm off", but it's "my" Bird of Prey photo and I, for one, am chuffed...
