Past referendum days
Went to the opening of a new exhibition in the Edinburgh Museum, on the High Street just up from the Parliament. It examines the two Scottish constitutional Referendum's held in Scotland to date, one in 1979 and the other in 1997. It was organised by the Scottish Political Archive, based at the University of Stirling. They are also in the process of constructing a vocal archive of both events. There is much to find of interest here, especially the similarity of the arguments against any form of constitutional change. The trouble for the proponents of such a position - things have move on in the last thirty odd years.
