Our Yard

Hello everyone!

Thank you for the neat comments on my spiral staircase yesterday and the words of encouragement for my drive today. Unfortunately, the day dawned typical winter Oregon coast gray and drizzly. I don't mind foggy or gray or ? But the drizzly part makes for not wanting to go out. Oh well. I got some things done around the house and some other stuff so the day was still good!

I'm blipping something I think is kinda cool! It is a map, with legend, someone did for the previous owner. It's hard to read on this small photo but towards the top is the outline of the foundation of the house and the front yard. This map was done first in August of 1995 then updated in December of 1996. There has been changes since but it's pretty neat to know what tree, flower, bush is around us!! The front 'yard' looks like it was grass when this was done but it now is all garden with walking stones and a really neat water feature in the upper right front yard as you are looking at the map. So wonderful to hear the water trickle when we get out of the car in front!! Down below the houseline to the left you see a little jetted out part of the roof. That is where she has put in an indoor lap spa. Pretty cool! We haven't filled it yet but will be doing so next week!! Also, the spiral staircase blipped yesterday must have come after this was done also as it looks like there was a straight stairway from the deck. The backyard is terraced so you can see a couple stair ways on each side of the garden. Between them you see walking stones that go over a little bridge where there flows another water feature. I look forward to warm evenings sitting on the deck listening to the trickle of our own little waterfall!! Where it says RASPBERRIES it is now a little rock zen garden complete with a very happy Buddha! I will blip him soon. Across the little bridge from the Buddha garden is a little building which she called the Meditation Room. Built for that sole purpose. It's the size of a large shed built like a little beach cabin with a deck on 3 sides. One room with carpet. That's it. A room for meditating. Not sure what we will do with that little room. Then down and to the right you can make out a polygon shaped roof line under the big trees. That is what we call the tree house (or I like to call it the party room) :) It was actually built for yoga. It's a big room with the backside all windows looking out into the trees and mirrors on another wall. There is a little half bath. It's like a little mountain cabin!! We may use that for guests or?? We just want to be here a while and get the feel of it all!! OH!!! And, you can see the driveway up and to the right? She had it etched down the middle with a turquoise wavy 'stripe' mimicking the flow of water. It has faded but I would like to have it redone. I think it would be pretty neat to have another map done of how the yard is now. So..., there is my new zen yard, in a nutshell. I know it's kind of hard to see in the photo. Since I don't know all my plants and flowers this has been great to go to for identifying them. However, there obviously have been more plantings since this was done so I may need to turn to my blip friends and your vast knowledge for help with some of these plants!!! :o)
I hope everyone had a safe and happy weekend!

Happy Sunday!
