It felt rather odd, to be out walking without Lollie dog by my side. However, Eilidh cat took it upon herself to accompany me all the way there and back again, even into some very rough and boggy ground.
Lots of trees were down but happily some planting has been done; a forest of plastic tree-protectors had sprung up in their stead. Also, a huge bird box had been hung, high up, in a massive fir tree, possibly an owl box but seemed too large even for that - red kite? The buzzards create great twiggy platforms of their own but I've never seen a kite's nest. We have at least one pair in a nearby copse, so maybe this is put up to encourage them to spread? I know that the RSPB are monitoring them. Time will tell..
