Zoar Chapel

The good news is that the snow and ice have gone but the bad news is that they have been replaced by fine rain - the sort that wets you all the way through!

Another and perhaps final curiosity not a minute from home is Zoar Chapel. Until I saw this sign I had never heard of Zoar but I was fascinated by the concept of such a place being "Strict & Particular". Not so long ago I suppose that if I had wanted to find out more I might have gone to the local library but now we have the internet.

According to Wikipedia Zoara, the biblical Zoar, was one of the five cities of the plain of Jordan which escaped the "brimstone and fire" which destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and if you want to know more please search the internet or go to your local library.

An internet search for Zoar Chapel, Norwich revealed amongst many other sites "Strict & Particular" which described Zoar Chapel as an Historic Strict Baptist Church and gave a very brief history of the church.

We live and learn.

The sign is covered with a thick clear plastic which doesn't make for a very good photograph.
