Blackberries
With all the rain we've had this summer, it's been really difficult to find a day with the right conditions for spraying the weeds and most of us haven't. It's kind of too late now in some respects. What we don't eat, the birds will, so the seeds will spread for next year regardless. It's still possible to 'cut and paint', but it's a bugger, because you have to manhandle the canes and the thorns are very sneaky and efficient...
It's a pity blackberry is such a terrible weed - everything is useful - the fruit is delicious and versatile, the dried canes make fantastic kindling and even the leaves - or maybe it's the flowers - make some kind of herbal infusion (which I know nothing about, so don't even ask - it's supposed to be really useful for something anyway).
I wandered up the back of Wyn's place to take a few snaps, while the blokey blokes were helping him demonstrate How to Put Up a Television Aerial Before the Thunderstorm Gets Here. (They mainly did this by: 1. (C) Standing at the foot of the ladder and looking up; 2. (L) Disappearing and coming back a couple of times and 3. (Mr D) Going inside to get away from the imaginary mossies.)
I'll backblip yesterday's in a day or two - I have so many to choose from and a bit of research to do as well... and there's some other work I have to do (not housework, don't worry)... and we have nice blokes visiting, who have to be played with, so... coupl'a days...
