The Kiltwalk

The Wroniecki Clan . . Marching for Summer

Many of us who take part in the Kiltwalk do so because we want to help raise as much money as possible for Scottish Children's Charities, as we know the support they offer everyone who touches them, is second to none.

However the parents of a young Cupar girl currently undergoing intensive cancer treatment, have very personal reasons for taking part in the 26-mile Kiltwalk challenge.

Karen and Chris Wroniecki's three-year-old daughter Summer was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in September and since then has undergone a series of operations plus chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions.

The couple, who also have a five-year-old son Brody, are set to take on the challenge of walking from Hampden Park in Glasgow to the shores of Loch Lomond on April 8.

And they won't be alone, as you can see from the fantastic picture above, they will be joined by the Wroniecki Clan which includes Karen's brother Andy and his fiancé Suzy, plus 25 other close friends.

Dressed in kilts and Scotland football tops they hope taking part in the national event will raise vital funds for a range of children's charities, including their own chosen charity, the Sick Kids hospital in Edinburgh, where Summer has had the majority of her treatment.

Karen said: "We are really pleased that so many of our friends want to do this with us and it should be good fun as well as raising a lot of money for charity.

"The Kiltwalk shares money out between various charities and by doing this as a team we are able to decide where 50 per cent of the money we raise goes.

"We hope people who know us will show their support and visit our justgiving online donation page at"

So we wish you all the best on the day, and beyond and we'll certainly be looking out for you all on the day.

In 2010 the Kiltwalk raised over £100,000 for children's charities in Scotland, a figure that was surpassed in 2011 when they manage to reach £120,000.

About The Kiltwalk

The Kiltwalk supports the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), Aberlour Child Care Trust, CLIC Sargent and the Tartan Army Children's Charity, as well as donating funds to the Kiltwalk Trust Fund which makes donations to smaller children's charities across Scotland and we hope that this year beats last year figure and by some way.

Anyone who would like to join the team and take on the challenge should register on the Kiltwalk site.
