Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day when it brings such delicious, beautifully presented chocolates as this! In Japan, February 14th is the day on which girls present gifts to their boyfriends. On March 14th, called White Day, boys present gifts to their girlfriends. However, it is acceptable for boys to give gifts to a girl on Valentine's Day in order to initiate a romantic relationship. There is a recommended ratio for the reciprocation of gifts of roughly 1:3, so if the girl gives the boy a ¥1,000 box of chocolates on Valentine's Day, he should buy her a ¥3,000 box of chocolates on White Day. A cynical ploy by chocolate manufacturers to triple their chocolate sales? Perhaps. But for now, I'm going to enjoy my sweeties and put White Day out of my mind. Yummy!
