Pink and grey Galahs
There were some fabulous colours in the sky tonight but, by the time I realized it and grabbed the camera and headed for the water, the best had gone. It all disappeard so quickly!!
As I turned to head home the galahs were screeching overhead and I looked up to see them nesting for the night in the big trees by the river. I hadn't seen them there before so that well and truly made up for missing the sunset. They are such lovely birds - my parents had one as a pet when I was a child, they had clipped his wing and he roamed around the yard and was sometimes allowed indside. They put him in his cage at night to keep him safe. They had taught him to speak and his repertoire include the usual "hello cocky" and "cocky wants a cracker". Of course, it is very politically incorrect these days to do that to the poor birds but it's a happy childhood memory. It may be easier to see them in large.
