Eastern Rosella
When we first arrived here in March we used to see these Rosellas quite regularly in the garden, eating the apples and persimmons. They were difficult to photograph as they hid in the trees and flew off as soon as we appeared. We haven't seen any for a few weeks, I assume because of winter.
However I interupted this one late this afternoon, it was in amongst the grapefruit. It flew away on to the apple tree and I went inside for my camera, fully expecting it to have flown. Instead it stayed on the same branch for a few minutes, and allowed me to get closer than I have ever managed before.
