The Good Old Days
It is such a joy to here my dad talk and laugh at the pranks he and others used to get up to when on holiday in Sutherland - Culkein.
Here he is telling Susan of a New Year party when a young man parked his mini at the front of Aunt Mary's house and then joined the group inside celebrating Hogmany.
My dad and a few others pranked him by going out and lifting the car round to the back of the house - an impossible task to manoeuvre on wheels...
When the car owner decided to leave, having "had a few", he had only been away for seconds when he returned confused. He asked the others if they had seen his car - and they replied, "It's round the back where you parked it!" He found his car in utter disbelief...
Susan's face no doubt reflected the hilarity that then ensued that night - ending in the mini being carried less carefully, nevertheless successfully, back to the front of the house - but the next morning!!!
Funny to think of him doing that around 72 years ago!!!
