Urban Ceiling
I was wantering around Dublin on a dull overcast day, visiting some of my old haunts. I ended up in the Meeting House Square within Temple Bar, and the newly installed canopies were up.
This is a small urban space, surrounded by cultural buildings, including the Gallery of Photography, the centre of which is now dominated by 4 huge retractable canopies, which are quite impressive. This space is regularly used for a farmers market, an outdoor cinema, and many other events, which are often cancelled, or at least dampened by the often present rain. These new canopies are a significant investment to make an urban space more useable and enjoyable.
I tried various different angles and viewpoints to photograph this newly enclosed urban space, but I prefer this image of where the three buildings that form one of the corners of the space, almost meet up with the new ceiling.
