I love Chicago. No matter where I end up, this city will always be my home. Bob Tietel, the producer of Men of Honor and Barbershop, said it best in a Q/A session with my class when I was in a film program in L.A. a few years back (and I'm paraphrasing): "In Chicago, everyone got your back. You need something, they got it for you, no questions asked. In Chicago, everyone is as real as they get. It's a good place."
When I was in high school, I constantly talked about how I would bolt out of here as soon as I finished high school, but graduation came and went, and I'm still here. My attitude about this place did a complete 180. I owe it all to moving out here to the city -- I hated living in the suburbs, as they were and still are full of cookie-cutter houses and people who are afraid to stand out. In Chicago, the milieu is so beautifully raw and the entire city is bustling with people from all walks of life. I have been around the country, and no place I've been to so far has as much character & flavor as Chicago. It's a magnificent city and I'm proud to call it my hometown.
