Jacqui's World

Jam! Jam! and more Jam.

We thought we would have a look at one of Sir William Pickles Harley's jam pot which is situated in the village of Trawden where he is buried.

He was born in 1846 in Colne Lancashire and made his first jam when he was 10 years old.
By the age of 21 he was a millionaire and moved to Bootle where he had a big factory.
The other object next to it is a pump from 1800.

There used to be a public toilet on this sight and like many others in Britain they closed it and pulled it down.
