Goldenballs

Today we left our winter wonderland and risked the snowy roads to get to Salzburg. The roads were ok going but on our return we found that the road from waidring to st Ulrich was closed due to an avalanche.

Salzburg itself was great if rather cold. We took the funicular train up to the castle and from up there we spotted Goldenballs. Of course we investigated and surprise surprise it has nothing to do with the very lovely David Beckham although it didn't say what it was in aid of...

The sun came out for us in the afternoon and after some lovely Kaiserschmarn for lunch we had a lovely walk round the old town and along the riverbank.

Definitely thumbs up for Salzburg...will go back in the summer to see it in green rather than white!
