Topping out

A topping out ceremony is held when a new building's construction reaches its highest point. Today's ceremony involved a Scottish piper, a couple of speeches, the ringing of a bell, the nailing of an evergreen branch to the building, the drinking of a noggin of ale (actually, a noggin of mango juice!) and the laying of a final section of concrete. Its purpose is to drive out evil spirits. This is Richard McAlpine, great chap, very good contractors.
