Children's Carnaval in Funchal

It doesn't matter how young you are. This little Arabian prince sat through the whole event enthralled, charming the photographers and tourists alike and watching his big sister and her friends as they processed with their schools and teachers.

Dress up.
Throw streamers.
Cheer and dance.

It's Children's Carnaval in Funchal, Madeira, and everyone's having fun.

The big main parade is on Saturday night - with floats and scantily clad Samba dancers. And on Tuesday it's the turn of the locals' satirical parade.

But the sun shone this morning and the festivities have now begun.
