The cardboard symphony orchestra.
Today my inspirational boss surpassed herself with her classes "Peter and the Wolf" performance. The children had made the most realistic looking violins, flute, clarinet, bassoon, oboe, French horn and timpani. They had learnt how to mime play them. She conducted, the real music playing in the background, they came in at the correct times, moving with expression. It was the best example of "music appreciation" that I've seem in all my years of teaching. These 4-5 year olds now have an understanding of how a symphony orchestra works and have learnt with accuracy about a variety of orchestral instruments. It was phenomenal. I work at the most amazing place!
