A rose, some wine and some stew
An incredibly short day at school today, only 2 lessons. I love ski trips and maths competitions. That meant, my weekend started at 10.25.
I quickly popped home to finish packing and caught my bus.
It was a good journey as I had a seat the whole way. Hungary has lots of boarding schools (which are very diffferent from those back home)where the students go home every weekend. It is also very common for uni students to go home every weekend. This means the buses on Fridays are very crowded. So the fact I had a seat for the whole 4.5 hours on 3 different buses was verz lucky.
It was also nice to watch the snow covered landscape as it made a change from the usual winter scenes. The agriculture here is mostly crops, which means in the summer it is beautiful but the winter gives us nothing but grey/brown, desolate ploughed fields.
L met me in at the bus station with a beautiful red rose. We popped to spar where we had an incredibly rude and unhelpful checkout assistant. Something I do miss from home is the customer service. When I worked in shops back home if I had spoken to a customer like that I would have been in serious trouble. Unfortunately, here it seems the customer is never right.
Back to L's halls for a nap because I was so tired. While I was napping L made dinner, which was yummy. Homemade venison stew with mashed potato and peas. Thank you xxx It really was unbelievably delicious. Yay, my man can cook!
We also had some wine which was made by one of my colleagues. It's a special wine which is aged in a smokey oak barrel. It was a beautiful wine.
I took this photo while L went back into Spar to get my rose that I had forgotten. It is of the Three Graces or Charites, Aglaea ("Splendor"), Euphrosyne ("Mirth") and Thalia ("Good Cheer") by Somogyi József in 1987. In the warmer months it is a fountain. I was drawn to it because of their big bums. I have also just noticed the snowball on the back of one of the sisters.
