Mellow yellow in Carmelo
Just a one hour bus ride west of Colonia brought us to the sleepiest town in all of Uruguay.
Carmelo is a small town nestled on the banks of the Rio de Plata and is a popular entry point into Uruguay for Portenos who live in the Buenos Aires suburbs.
We arrived just after midday at the start of their long siesta. This gave us plenty of opportunity to wander the streets, plazas and down to the port. Dulux would be very happy with the wide display of their colors on all the houses including the brightest blues, greens and pinks we have ever seen.
One of our favorite spots I dubbed "mellow yellow" for the 4 shades of yellow you can see in the houses and on the beetle.
Carmelo is a stunner of a place if you like things quiet, easy and slow....which I do.
