NMR cryogenics
todays lab sesion was NMR spectroscopy, i was going to get a photo of the actual NMR machine its self but then i realised the NMR machine consists of a giant magnet that can erase a phones memory at 8 foot away so that went out the window. the NMR has to be kept extreamly cold ( below -200 degrees C(thats about 70degrees warmer than absolute zero) by a mixture of liquid nitrogen and liquid Helium, the nitrogen is toped up about every 2-3 days the Helium evry month. Lucky for me yesterday they did both.
these are the cryogenic transportation vesels Nitrogen in the forground and the larger Helium in the rear, just posh jars really.
