River transport

In Dusseldorf today. Pretty grey and overcast and not conducive to great photography.

I find the constant traffic of large barges on the Rhein fascinating. These two are both Dutch and the one in the foreground is on its way upstream towards Cologne - it has a couple of cars and a boat on top of the 'house' at the back. The one at the back is heading towards the sea with its load of tractors and cars. Such a different way of life!

Yesterday's photo was taken at Messe Deutz station in Cologne. Cologne Cathedral is in the background.
