Monea Castle

This plantation castle didn't last very long as a functioning fort. Built at Monea near Derrygonnelly by the Scottish Planters settling in this part of Fermanagh and finished in 1618, the castle was in ruins by 1641 as a result of the Rebellion of that year.

Brought my brother-in-law to have a look at it as well as an amazing secondhand bookshop in a shed at the back of a man's house.
