Brindle my dog

My mom told me after being away for a week in edmonton and calgary Brindle always waits for me every single night up and down the stairs whenever he hears a noise. Once I am home he sleeps all day and never goes down the stairs even if there is a noise. I don't think he even sleeps well. He is a very loyal dog And i miss him a lot!
