Weekend Away

I surprised the husband with a pre birthday weekend get away. This week he turns the big 40! Yikes, how did that happen? I keep telling him "better you than me" although the big 40 will be here for me soon enough.

I had thought we would celebrate his landmark birthday in Vegas or someplace extra special but lack of planning and lack of finances prevented us from it so instead we escaped (minus the kids) to Skamania Lodge which isn't far from here. It feels so good to get away. The weather has been rainy thus far so we haven't ventured outside of the lodge and instead have indulged in some spa pampering and some of these ( pictured ), Bloody Mary's.
