Botanical Gardens

Awoke today to blue skies again - just right for a game of golf - yes we played the Pegasus where the N.Z. Ladies open had been played over the w/e. The course was all set up for the championship so in fantastic condition - and as a bonus we had millionaires golf - hardly anyone on the course apart from the workmen taking all the stands etc down. We both played well - but Alan just pipped me today ! After golf we went to the Botanical gardens where there is presently a festival of flowers. It was quiet and peaceful - right in the middle of the city. The displays of flowers , sculptures and the magnificent trees made it well worth a visit. We were particularly taken with some staged exhibits - the photo shows a very poignant display - called "rising from the rubble". The tree of life emerging from the rubble reflects the inspirations of Canterbarians as they move towards a newer and greener city. Regeneration is represented by the choice of foliage and flowers in this display.
