Dolphin
Jo and I went fishing out behind StHelena Island this afternoon. I was hopeful that we would see dolphins for Jo's sake and I wasn't disappointed. In fact this was the closest a dolphin has ever come to the boat. At one stage it was around ten metres away. The image quality isn't the best I know but dolphins aren't predictable about where they come up. It hung around for about five minutes and disappeared when another boat motored by. I saw it a ways off a little later. Seeing a dolphin made my day.
I also got to check out the rock wall I was fishing near the other night. Thank goodness for my navigation skills (or lack thereof). With the help of my sounder I discovered that if I had taken a shortcut around a beacon the other night I would have been in very shallow water. Anyway, now I know that when I fish at night I can get very close to the rocks and still have four metres of water under the boat.
How was it that we were out on the bay on a weekday. It is the Brisbane Exhibition public holiday today. Work tomorrow but it is nice to have a mid-week break.
My other achievment for the day was to change the tyres over on my motorbike. I had a barely legal set of motocross tyres on that needed changing if I want to ride on the highway. I rather optimistically thought I could change them myself. After lots of sweating and grunting to break the bead on one I realised that maybe I was going to have to seek help. Then I pierced the rear inner tube with a tyre iron, ruining it. So I looked up a bike shop to change the tyres over and paid to get someone else to do it. A good move I think. Tonight Jo helped me put the wheels back on and I took a link out of the chain while I was about it. The job isn't quite finished. I decided to do the tightening and adjusting tomorrow. I have a few rums under the belt tonight. Enough was enough.
Thanks for the comments yesterday. Weird. I thought it wasn't one of my best efforts...at all.
EDIT: While I am about it, this is my effort for assignment 32. Look "through the window" into my life. It is great.
