Cueva de Los Verdes

Because of the volcanic nature of the island there are many caves to explore. This one is part of an extensive system inside a giant volcanic lava tube where the outer layer of lave cooled sufficiently to form a giant "drinking straw" through which the lave flowed to the sea. This was formed about 6000 years ago, is 6.5 kms long and extends out under the sea for its final kilometer. This particular cave is used for concerts such is the amazing quality of the acoustics.
