Lion Gateway

The lion gateway, entrance to Merchiston Castle was built in the C19 using older stones. On maps of 1891 there appears a bowling green at the location, possibly accessed through this gate. (Sadly, cars parked in front obscured the full view and also meant that I had to crop out the registration numbers). Now the Napier College of Commerce and Technology, open access is further to the West.

I attended that college for four years and never noticed them until today.
