HMS Ganges
Ganges is the name of the main town on our little island. It got its name from a warship, HMS Ganges of the Royal British Navy. HMS Ganges was a sailing ship, built in India 1821 and for some years stationed at the naval base on Vancouver Island. The ship did service on different locations and under different names until 1923.
This is the transom board of one of the ships boats, probably the captains' gig. Today the board is kept in a little museum at Moat's store in Ganges.
