A Birds Eye View

Haven't been out today so what to Blip? This was taken through the kitchen window at a moments notice, so not the best quality pic.
I have a thing about wood pigeons.Let me explain.Shortly after my dad died some fifteen years ago, a wood pigeon took up residence in the garden of the house where we lived at that time.It had no fear of us and would sit at close quarters, observing all we did.Often we would hear it cooing down the chimney breast, as it sat on top of the chimney for heat.
I got it into my head that this bird was actually a reincarnation of dad, as
there was a strong association in my mind with dad and wood pigeons. He had a caravan in the Borders for many years and when we holidayed with mum and dad, we would be wakened every morning by the wood pigeons serenading us.
Dad became synonymous with the birds .I would purposely go out into the garden and carry on a full scale conversation-----with----a BIRD!!Our neighbours must have had a few fearful moments about my sanity. How strange that it should be a wood pigeon residing in the willow tree at the bottom of the garden.
After hubby's dad died, our pigeon was joned by another. This was just too strange for words. However,we soon had a nest full of babies, so my theory was not only proved wrong it was blown apart!
Out of interest, we have had a lone wood pigeon flying around our new home since we moved here .Today it was spotted with another.(shown in the picture above)Maybe dad followed us here, has at last found a friend and is back to cooing down the chimney---of the barbecue!
