Best friends

Laura said goodbye to her best friend, K, today, as K. leaves for college tomorrow. K. gave her this little book, as a parting gift. Its written for friends having to say goodbye for whatever reason, moving, graduation etc. It has various quotes about friendship etc, occasional pictures and writing, but it also has blank pages that the giver can fill in - 'things I love about you', 'Funniest memories', 'things I'll miss about you' etc, etc. Laura showed me the book, and as I was looking through it and reading the things K. had written, I think it finally really hit home, that Sunday she will be gone, admittedly not that far away, but not living at home any more, we will be 'empty nesters', and the tears began to flow for both of us and we had a teary hug!!.
