If you need a friend...
Monday was the first day I felt well enough to venture out properly into the fresh air after my weekend bug. Had a stroll round the local park with the dog.
After a fortnight in India seeing and hearing the amazing birdlife there, it felt strange to come back to the familiar birds of Brighton, mainly seagulls and pigeons. This one reminded me of a book I read on holiday, Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman. It's about an African boy who comes to London and has to negotiate the perils of urban life. He befriends a pigeon who in turn watches over him. I've never thought of them as anything other than pests, but this one looked quite benign!
