broken glass

A rather confused image but the metal frame, until yesterday, held a great slab of glass. On my folks' verandah, it has hosted dinners and lunches for many years and kookaburras and magpies have skidded around on the surface demanding tidbits.

Mum called last night to say that while she was having a rest, there was a huge gun shot crack and a shattering sound . Result?? This mess. We're still tyring to work out what happened.
Not the weight of a giant bird but more probably years of moving the table around, dislodging one of the support baffles or perhaps a crack in the glass which has fnally given way.
