The Great Dog Bottom Swap
Over the past 8 years I have read hundreds and hundreds of children's books to my kids. We've been through the local library's collection countless times and can sniff out a new arrival within seconds. This was the case with this new arrival - The Great Dog Bottom Swap. Written and illustrated by Peter Bently and Mei Matsuoka in 2010 (how did it take so long to arrive in my library?!), this book is possibly the funniest children's picture book I've ever read.
The basic story is that all the dogs in the world arrive at the Dog's Summer Ball and, as etiquette dictates, they leave their bumholes neatly hanging in the cloakroom before going on to dance the night away. Unfortunately a fire breaks out at the Ball and all the doggies flee, grabbing whatever bumhole they can find on their way out. And this is the reason why you'll always see doggies checking each others bums out. They're searching for the one they lost on the night of the fire. Of course, it all makes sense now!
Completely bonkers but completely brilliant.
