This seat is part of Whitehaven's timeline and records when William Rufus attacked and annexed what is now Cumbria for England. It used to be part of Scotland. The pieces to the right of the seat are concerned with John Paul Jones' remarkably unsuccessful invasion. I thought of trying to remove the red post from this photo...but photos never lie!
