Whoo Whoo!

So what do you when it's cold and draery in the City? You head to the hills where it is colder and wetter! I started out by going on a bus ride through the Dandenong Ranges mainly to see if it was worth coming out to again when the weather improves (such optimism!) for walking etc. I ended up in Belgrave and couldn't resist riding on Puffing Billy. Of course a closed carriage rather than one that was open to the elements would have been a wise choice... but not as much fun, and thankfully it didn't rain on the journey up.

I spent about an hour before the train left on the platform (it was raining then) and even was invited to get up onto the footplate with the driver and the engineer ( he jokingly offered to let me drive it too... at least I assumed it was a joke!). The trip was great, if a bit cold, and the scenery, through the trees , was good despite the weather. After about 40 minutes at the trains last stop ( a little township called Emerald, we clambered on board (and into the closed carriages) for the return journey... just as well as it rained quite hard for the first 10 minutes or so. It was only at this point that I thought about changing the camera over to sepia! Consequently, this picture of the train hasn't got a lot of steam as it was at the end of the journey.

Then it was back home to warm up!
