The Lighted Life

Heartfelt Thanks from San Francisco

I am almost dizzy with the response to my blip from yesterday. I had no idea it would be so viewed. The truth be known, I almost did not post it but for my wife's insistence. And, your comments and favorites humble me and I cannot thank you enough for your kindness.

There are so many great images and image makers in this community. I am in awe of so many of you and I am entirely addicted to your blips. By observing your work, I have received great joy. This is a wonderful place to electronically exist. Yet, I wish we could all have one GIGANTIC GLOBAL BLIP MEET and touch the hands of each other much as we touch each other through the web every day.

This is another from atop an ivory tower. The bridge is the Bay Bridge. The Ferry Building sits below and is one of my favorite buildings in all of California. Its majesty reigns supreme over the center of the waterfront. This part of town is a paradox. On the one hand it is calm and organized if not subdued. Yet, peer around the corner and you witness street life in its fullest form, ranging from wannabe socialites to jugglers to passionate Occupy SF organizers. Skateboarders fill the plaza at night in front of the building. This truly has something for all and I am not able to tire of it.

The beauty of this city is palpable and it never rests, morning, noon or night. For years, I never took the time to fully appreciate its splendor. I lived in LA and went north if "had to". But, now, I realize this place is simply heaven. I am giddy for it and I cannot wait to come back. My humanly vessel is going back home to Minnesota tonight but my heart and mind shall remain here a bit longer. Next week, I am traveling to Los Angeles, the antithesis of San Francisco.

[This image was taken in JPG with the Fuji X10 shortly after breakfast. I set the camera to the Vibrant setting and pumped the EV.....the little sensor over shot the mark a bit but I love the view, so.....]

Here is a blip from last night aboard a Castro street car:
