D is for ... Departure
Mr D (not the resident one, the other one) is a very old friend who has been visiting from Queensland for the last ten days. We saw him off on the train this morning.
D is also for:
Delightful Discourse - inevitable with a man who remembers everything he's ever read, but maintains that in conversation "you're here to be entertained, not educated", which justifies completely making things up...
Delectable Dinners (simple equation: feed them well = they come back)
Differential equations, which he does for fun!

Duffle bag
Desert hat (very large size - to fit on a head that contains a brain the size of a planet)
Displacer of jobs (i.e. the ticket machine, which is nine times slower (I've timed it) at dispensing tickets than the live person in the ticket office - so not more efficient nor convenient for passengers, just cheaper.)
Debris-free platform - because we still have a Station Master, although not for long if Railway cost-cutting continues to continue.
Diabolically Disobedient naughty boys - this Mr D and the resident Mr D (according to their own folklore), when they were young Daredevils. They kind of still are, really...
