The cost of drugs
One of the aspects of my job that I enjoy is trying to take a gamble on what drugs are about to shoot up in price and stockpile them before they do. My tips for the next few months are lansoprazole and levothyroxine. Buy, buy, buy!
Until I worked in my current job I was
oblivious to the fluid prices of generic drugs and left all that to a buyer at head office. We don't have a head office so I need to listen to rumours.
Drugs randomly shoot up in price and what could cost £1 this week might suddenly be £10 next week if it goes short.
Mebeverine went short last year and the price sky rocketed. Interestingly, not before one of the big multiples had bought the whole supply from one of my wholesalers, in turn bumping the cost up
A cynic would say that if you buy x amount of drugs and keep them hidden in a warehouse until the price is 3x you will have tripled your money.
A cynic would also say that it was a good appointment for the former chief of one of the biggest banks to become the chief of the biggest multiple in the UK and use his expertise to manipulate drug prices on a massive level.
