Jaxx

I am exhausted! This morning was groom the dog day - whew! Poor pup - he was so happy to see me - lots of kisses and then I said "OK, Jaxx - lets cut your nails" ...his ears went back and tail went under. I know it doesn't hurt him...I use a nail grinder...but he just hates his paws to be touched...as any dog does.

So grinded down the nails - it took forever. Brushed his teeth...ohhh he loves that!! Im serious, he actually loves it! Brushed his coat for a while and then cleaned his ears. An hour later - his tail was wagging once again ;)

Decided to bake up some of his favorite cookies - peanut butter and banana! We've been baking up cookies for over five years now - the store brands have too much chemicals in them. I got the book of recipes from a local vet. Jaxx loves them! Here are some of his favorites:

PB & Banana Cookies

3 ½ cups wheat flour
¾ cup cornmeal
¼ cup oatmeal
1 cup natural peanut butter
2 bananas
1 egg
¼ cup water
¼ cup milk

Set oven to 325 degrees. Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately - combine. Roll out to ¼ inch thickness and cut into desired shapes. Bake 12-15 mins. Turn off the oven and place back in warm oven for an hour to dry out - store in an airtight container. No refrigeration required.

Cheese Sticks

2 cups wheat flour
¼ cup cornmeal
1 egg
¾ cup water
¾ cup hard cheese - shredded

Set oven to 325 degrees. Wisk egg and water - add remaining ingredients - use only ½ cup of the cheese. Form into 1 inch balls - roll ball on flat surface to form a stick. Roll the sticks into the remaining shredded cheese until covered. Bake 30 minutes or until brown around the edges. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Salmon Cookies

6 oz Salmon - fresh or canned - drained
1 egg
½ cup flour
3 tablesp canola oil

Set oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients and roll out and cut into desired shapes. Bake 12 minutes and flip cookies - bake an additional 10 mins. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Tuna Cookies

1 ½ cups wheat flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup oatmeal
¼ teasp baking powder
½ teasp garlic powder
12 oz can of tuna in spring water - don't drain
1/3 cup water
2 tablesp canola oil

Set oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients and roll out on floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Add more flour if mixture is too wet. Bake 25 mins - turn off the oven and dry out cookies for an hour or so. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
