This morning module 5 was lifted off and transferred to the material barge. The weight of the module was 3090 tonnes, so this could be done with one crane only in the revolving mode. Crane capacities are a given with minimum outreach, that is: with the boom maximum up. It is obvious that the capacity of the crane decreases drastically when you come down with the boom. The capacity of the starboard crane of the Hermod comes down with approximate 3000 short tonnes when you increase your outreach with 20 meters. Try it yourself; hold a weight of 20 kilograms with stretched vertical arms above your head, this will give no problems. Now try to lift the same weight with horizontal stretched arms. Do you feel any difference?
