Such Great Heights

Possibly the greatest adventure of my holiday was a helicopter ride up over the city of Funchal and over the mountains. It was, without a doubt, one of the most amazing expriences ever - and I can tell you now, it is THE way to travel. Far smoother than a plane, and almost effortless with every turn.

I took a lot of pictures on that short trip, but this is one of the best - a view along the southern coast of the island, where a number of the larger hotels are located. That big white complex in the middle is where I was staying, and of all the pictures I took of it - from land, sea and air - this is my favourite.

Everything is perfect from such great heights.
