Rapunzel on the buff
Been to an amateur pantomime ina village hall this afternoon. Quite a curious affair; I've never been to a panto that features songs by Iron Maiden, Joan Jett and The Specials before. Indeed, hearing the cast sing "A message to you, Rude Queen" is something that will live with me for a very long time. Paula turned to me during the song and said "Hmm, that's SO wrong it's right"
We also had three goats as the comedy turn. One of the goats was a Rastafarian, played by an ageing white man who was blacked up, and I have to say it's quite possibly one of the most offensive things I've ever seen. Another of the goats was meant to be Irish but clearly didn't know how to do an Irish accent so simply didn't bother. The third goat was supposed to be Scottish -the less said about him the better.
Couldn't get many decent shots. That one's the best of a bad bunch and features the Rude Queen we heard about earlier, and her henchman. The henchman's costume and make-up was clearly inspired by Kiss's Gene Simmonds mixed with one of Noel Fielding's scarier Mighty Boosh creations. Only not as frightening. Clearly.
One final thought: have you ever seen a troll that wears a wedding ring?
