The first daffodil of Spring

This is the first to bloom in my garden and it fair cheers me up.

I've spent the past two days gardening and repotting bonsai. There are two new roses and an escallonia and the front garden has been weeded and pruned. Now I'm digging out periwinkle that has run riot down the side. Admittedly it's probably the only thing that will grow so successfully in such a shaded place but it spreads and spreads and spreads.....

I intend trying something else a bit more interesting although like couch grass it will probably be impossible to totally get rid of it.
