From the desk of me
There used to be fashion that letters from high powered American executives would be printed as being " from the desk of". Indeed Noel Coward is reputed to have replied to one such missive with the opening salutation, "Dear Desk".
I thought of that today when looking at my desk in the study at home or rather at the letter holder which is , as ever, jammed with all sorts of bits of paper including the inevitable Cal Mac timetable, a saltire , a calendar, stamps and sundry other items.
I am sure I put them there for a purpose. It's just I can't now remember what all the purposes were.
But this is, genuinely, "from the desk of me", this afternoon.
