WW1 trenches in Dreghorn Wood
Enjoyed a great run this morning, over to Capelaw and Harbour Hill. On my way back I stopped off at the old WW1 practice trenches in Dreghorn Wood. Here is a blip of a trench which has almost completely filled in now. If you look closely, you might see the old corrugated iron sheets which were used to line the dugout.
I was shown these trenches by a neighbour who is also a local historian. She told me her father was one of the men who worked here in preparation for fighting in France. Amazing to have this evidence of WW1 history on our doorstep.
