Monsoon trek - end of an incredible journey
continued from here
we were again blessed with hot black tea in the morning. and bang came the news with the tea - "we dont know where the bus is and we dont have mobile signals or any other telephone available to call the driver up. So now we have to walk a good 7 kms to get to find a phone and call the driver." It was already about 8:00 AM and we had to reach the train station by 3:00 PM. It was a herculean task and I was pretty sure we would miss the train. So the last leg of the trek started. Our stock of chocolates and cookies were over. We just had water and a couple of thin bread slices at our disposal. After walking for quite a bit, we tore open the bread pack and had a bite and I remember clearly, one of my friends saying "this is the tastiest food I have ever had". I couldn't agree more. Somehow, magically our bus appeared out of nowhere. Seems like the team that stayed back were able to contact him somehow. We reaches station in time.
This shot was taken from the train on our return journey. Like all good things, the monsoon trek also came to an end.
This was a hell of an experience for me. I have never been so close to nature and have enjoyed so much in life. It was all so serene and peaceful - far from the madding crowd. No connection with the outside world. It was just the mountains, the rain, streams and the mud for 3 days.
I am probably still 'stinking' of those things and it will take quite a bit of city smoke to 'freshen' me up again.! quite a paradox!!!
